I used M&Ms. We discovered that the distribution of colors is not equal (there are more blue, green, and orange than red, yellow, or brown). This lead to a situation where kids were unable to complete their set because so many others had completed their sets with the same color. It led to an interesting discussion about distributions and why that might be the case and graphing.
