Non-Verbal Connectiles

  1. Present the activity per the normal instructions.
  2. Instruct your group that no one is permitted to talk or use any form of verbal communication during the activity.
  3. Performing charade-like actions (to communicate or express an idea) is okay.
Multiple Groups playing Connectiles

Multiple Teams

  1. Ideal for large groups – distribute one Connectiles set for two or more teams of 2 to 12 people.
  2. Challenge each group to complete the puzzle as quickly as possible.
  3. Invite collaboration & cooperation between the teams, if you choose.
  4. In conclusion, invite each group to reflect on their planning, problem-solving and decision-making processes.

Promote Leadership Skills

  1. Distribute a Connectiles card to one or more volunteers in your group.
  2. Instruct each volunteer to scan the QR code to view the (free) step-by-step instructions for the featured activity on a mobile device.
  3. Taking turns, invite each volunteer to lead the activity with the rest of their group as participants.
  4. Process as desired, exploring effective leadership skills.

Human Connectiles

  1. Randomly distribute one Connectiles card to each person (25 people.)
  2. Invite your group to mingle with one another to find, match & stand next to all of the illustrated clues on their card.
  3. Note, this will mean nine people will be in the centre of the puzzle solution representing a connection with four other people in front, left, right and behind themselves.
  4. Challenge your group to achieve the solution (standing in a 5 x 5 matrix) in the shortest time possible.
  5. Optional: create a large 5 x 5 empty grid on the floor inviting each space to be filled. If you have less than 25 people, place unassigned cards in the correct position inside the grid.

Mix, Match & Greet

  1. Randomly distribute one Connectiles card to each person (up to 25 people.)
  2. Invite your group to mix and mingle.
  3. Challenge each person to find, match and greet the people holding the cards to all 2, 3 or 4 of their clues as soon as possible.
  4. Bonus: for those who complete this task quickly, challenge them to create/invent/imagine as many other connections with the illustrated clues on their card with those of other people.
Focus on four Connectiles

Improv’ Story

  1. Randomly distribute one Connectiles card to each person.
  2. Form pairs or small groups of 3 or 4 people (max.)
  3. Challenge each pair or small group to create an improvisational story involving all of the objects and/or characters depicted on their Connectiles cards (hint: they can’t get this wrong.)
  4. Bonus: if time and energy allow, invite each story to be shared with the rest of the group.
Connectiles B-side One Flipped Over

Invent an Activity

  1. Distribute one Connectiles card to small groups of 2, 3 or 4 people.
  2. Flip over the card (activity side) to view the illustration and read the name and tagline of the featured group activity.
  3. Challenge each group to invent a fun game or activity based on the limited information available on the card.
  4. Bonus: play the newly invented game, if possible.
Focus on B-Side Connectiles colours

Create Random Teams

  1. Randomly distribute a Connectiles card to everyone in your group.
  2. Ask everyone to view the activity side of their card and identify the colour of the illustration (there are five colours.)
  3. Instruct everyone to find (a) one other person who is holding a card with the same colour, and/or (b) find all others who are holding the same colour.
  4. Bonus: for each individual or small group connection, pose a question to invite sharing.
