Project Wild Thing – MUST SEE movie trailer

While MC-ing the Asia Oceania Camping Congress this weekend, I saw a wonderful preview for a soon to be released movie called Project Wild Thing, by David Bond.

I won’t say much more than – watch this 2-minute trailer, and then promise to see the movie when it comes to your local cinema:

Actually, I do need to say two things which are connected to the story of this documentary:

1. Children today spend LESS than 2 hours a day in the outdoors. Compare this sobering data with the fact that maximum security prisoners are, by law, required to have a MINIMUM of 2 hours outside every day, otherwise, their incarceration is considered ‘abuse.’
2. Research reveals that children under 12 years of age spend approx 900 hours in school each year, yet they spend approx 1,900 hours in front of a screen during the same period. This is crazy.

As David says in his movie, children today will likely become the first generation to live a shorter life than their parents.

This madness has to stop.
