In short, this means that we have pledged to donate one per cent of every dollar we earn to support accredited environmental causes.
At the very core of this decision is our belief that this is simply a cost of doing business.
It’s not philanthropy, it’s paying rent for our use of the planet.
What is 1% for the Planet?
1% for the Planet is a global organisation that connects dollars and doers to tackle the world’s most pressing environmental issues.
It’s a global movement inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions through annual memberships and everyday actions. They advise on giving strategies, certify donations and amplify the impact of reputable environmental causes.
Importantly, there’s no middleman (or woman) between our donations and the non-profit organisations we support. Every dollar goes directly to support them and their work.
Our partnership with 1% for the Planet means that we are paired with environmental non-profits that align with our values and our brand that make the biggest impact possible.
Feeling Good About Being A Member
So, when you become a member, or purchase a product or attend a training workshop, 1% of your money is given to targeted environmental causes such as the Tree Project, Fairtrade and Sea Turtle Foundation, just to name a few.
As one of my mentors, Seth Godin says – people like us do things like this. We figure that if this makes us feel good, then many of our members and customers may feel the same way.
