The Secret to Seamless Activity Transitions

the Lazy Facilitator Episode 18

Nothing’s worse than a clunky program – where each activity feels disconnected from the one before it.

Now imagine this: your participants frequently comment that they can’t believe how fast the time flew, because it felt like one continuous journey.

That’s what seamless transitions create.

And I’m going to share two secrets that make it happen for me, which means, you can do it too (click play below…)

How to Facilitate Seamless Activity Transitions

First: always look for the ‘segue’ that ‘something’ that connects the current activity to the next one.

Find a relevant thread – maybe it’s a skill you’re building, or something your group showed an interest in. And you’ll know a good segue when it answers the question everyone’s silently asking: Why are we doing this?

Second: meet your group where they’re at. If they finish standing in a circle, transition to another circle activity. If your next activity needs groups of four, invite the pairs from the most recent activity to join together.

Don’t make your group work harder than is necessary to transition into the next activity.

These are small adjustments, but they’ll make a massive difference to the flow of your program sequence.
