The 10-Second Fix for Horrible Name Tags

the Lazy Facilitator Episode 21

From a regular distance, can you read the names on most name tags?

Nah, me either.

And yet, this is what almost every event, conference or training workshop name tag looks like. And here’s what kills me.

We print name tags so that other people can read them, right? To soften the often awkward initial introduction and name recall situation.

And yet, somehow we keep making them so small that the only way to read one is to get uncomfortably close to a complete stranger.

So here’s my lazy facilitator fix.

The 10-Second Lazy Facilitator Fix

The moment I arrive at any event, as a presenter, as a facilitator, as an MC, I ask everyone to flip over their name tag and write on the back.

Just like I demonstrate in the video above – big, bold, readable from across the room.

If you haven’t clicked play above yet, now’s a good time, because you’ll see a wonderful name tag where the event people clearly get it.

Suddenly, names are visible at a distance. And when the tag flips around, which it always does, problem solved.

One pen, 10 seconds, completely fixes it.

Now, if you found this truly simple idea useful, add a comment below and tell me why.
